The goal of this project is to create an original piece of art that demonstrates individuality by utilizing type and other design elements

The assignment is to create an original magazine cover utilizing skills learned in project 3 as well as other type skills

I will know I succeeded if I create a beautiful magazine cover that represents what I want it to represent while also maintaining an eye catching design

2. Research and Investigate

Band magazines tend to use less type and emphasize the photo used

Music magazines that emphasize a single artist usually put the title behind their head and wrap the article titles around the head to emphasize the face

I’d like to emphasize the artist and band name by wrap the band name around the artist rather than the title like most competition does

Colors: Green, Purple, Blue, Black, White

4. Select and Develop Best Solution

I chose this design because I really like the color in the photo that it uses and I like the way I can utilize the title within the design to give it a more 3D feel. I also think it really shows off the band's aesthetics and is very eye-catching. The article titles fit well within the photo due to some of the empty space the photo has. It’s very well balanced as well and feels symmetrical.

My design as of now is very eye-catching and the text interaction as well as color balance and emphasis of the photo turned out really well. I like the way the grain turned out and think it helps the design work. I’m iffy on the company at the top, I like the way it looks for the most part but I’m not sure if I think it's necessary or if I should change the transparency to something else. To advance my design further I could make the article titles fit better with the overall aesthetic of the picture and title possibly by changing the font or making them less bright I could take it further by adding more article titles and adding some more objects/effects. Line work? I could also take it further by making the silhouette of Lauren darker than the rest of the picture.
